Summer is here. School is out. The kids....they get bored very easily. I have made plans for them for the next three weeks, however, kids being bored isn't a bad thing. They are always on the go. They always have a set schedule. I have made a point for them to "be bored." Little do they know that with their boredness, the imagination will ignite. I want their brains to rest from electronics and to think of something to do!
I have had each of them set a summer "bucket list." I LOVED watching their faces as they think of new ideas. Here is a small list of my two kids things to do this summer. I can't wait to do them either! Macaiden's: Make a fort the size of a room. Go to the local water park to overcome a fear. Design my own lamp and have dad help me put it together. Have breakfast for three meals in one day. A family camp out downstairs all night! Maddie's: Have a girls vs boys nerf war. Play hide the kids....girls against boys. Mom, dad, Maddie, and Macaiden spray each other with a hose. PJ party with pizza and mom and dad. Game and food night. I am making this public so I hold myself accountable. A lot of times I say I am going to do something then life happens and we never get to it. I want my kids to know that we do not have to go on a trip in order to have fun (don't get me wrong, trips are awesome). With love, imagination, and being together we can have so much fun and make memories that will last. My Repurpose for Today : Remember that my kids have great ideas! Make the time to make them happen!

I absolutely loved your post. While I am not a mom yet I can still appreciate the excitement of your kids. I am the oldest of six and have many nieces and nephews as well as 2 godchildren. To see kids use their imagination is great and I love that they did not go too crazy with their plans. I admire that nothing included playing video games or tablets. I hope you guys have an amazing summer vacation creating memories to last a life time!

I love your idea of doing a bucket list for the kids. My oldest wasn't even a week into summer break and was declaring, "I am already bored!" I have been doing lots of crafts and even decided to to buy an above ground swimming pool for them to cool off in. This by the way was something I said I would never do, but the boys are driving me a bit crazy this summer that I needed something for them to do with me to where they wouldn't be fighting with each other. I actually took the time to sit with my oldest today and help him with a video game. Mom and video games do not mix. Haha. But hey, it was one on one time with him, regardless of what I was doing. Enjoyed your post as always :)

This is such an excellent idea! I agree that kids not having time to be "bored" isn't really good for them. How else can they develop creative thoughts, get into a book, find that something in the back of their closet they never would have if they hadn't been "bored" enough to do it? I hope your kiddos had a great summer and checked each thing off their bucket lists!
